Oleg Budza becomes president of National Confederation of Trade Unions

Oleg Budza was elected as president of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova, Alexandru Shkendra, the head of the Confederation's press office, has told Info-Prim Neo. Oleg Budza had been the Confederation's vice president, but acted also as president on an interim basis after the former president Leonid Manea offered his resignation on September 30. Budza was elected as president at Thursday's meeting of the General Board of the National Confederation of Trade Unions. Iurie Spivachenko, the president of the Federation of Trade Unions of Public Service Employees of Moldova, was also proposed for this post, but most of the votes were in favor of Oleg Budza. The Confederation's General Board also addressed a call to the MPs. “The events that followed the parliamentary elections, the problems that appeared in connection with the election of the head of state and other issues make the country's future uncertain. Given such a situation of instability, the state institutions cannot work at full capacity,” the Board said. The members of the Confederation consider that the election of the President of Moldova will contribute to the alleviation of the effects of the world economic and financial crisis, while the definitive establishment of the state institutions will allow the social partners to hold talks and examine and solve the problems resulting from the economic recession.
