Oleg and Natalia Nirca say Reshetnikov subjected them to intimidation

The vice president of the Conservative Party Oleg Nirca denies any involvement in the kidnapping of the former head of the Security and Information Service (SIS) Artur Reshetnikov, who blessed their religious wedding. Nirca called a news conference one day after he was called to the police, where he familiarized himself with the statement made by Reshetnikov. In the statement, Reshetnikov said that he was tortured and forced to sign documents whereby he pledged to transfer US$3 mullion or US$5 million, several CDs and a memory card with information discrediting Vladimir Voornin to Nirca. “We met in a bar where we use to rest on Monday at 3 pm. He left earlier. I waited for my friend with whom I discussed the proposal made by Reshetnikov,” Oleg Nirca said. He specified that Artur Reshetnikov told him that the Conservative Party should leave the electoral race and support the Communists Party in exchange for certain privileges that they will get if the PCRM won the elections. Oleg Nirca also said that until that meeting, he has not seen Reshetnikov since February. Several weeks ago, Reshetnikov called him and invited him to a meeting to discuss political proposals. According to the Nirca family, several years ago, before Reshetnikov was named head of the Security and Information Service, he borrowed from them considerable sums of money. He paid the money back only after he lost his job. “He did not intend to return the money. We had been subject to attacks, intimidation and persecution. The entire personnel of the SIS attacked our family,” said Natalia Nirca. Oleg and Natalia Nirca say it is strange that after the kidnapping Artur Reshetnikov was moved from the Emergency Hospital to another hospital that is headed by his brother–in-law. He should have remained at the Emergency Hospital for at least 21 days if he was so seriously injured, said Natalia Nirca, who is a doctor by profession. Oleg Nirca said that after the kidnapping he did not meet Reshetnikov, though he tried to contact him by phone. The joint investigation group of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Interior Ministry is considering three versions in this kidnapping case, including a hoax. The head of the Interior Ministry’s Prosecution Division Gheorghe Malic in a news conference on Wednesday that Artur Reshenikov refuses to cooperate with the investigation bodies and to be examined by a specialized doctor.
