Old wooden belfry has burned down

An old wooden belfry in a village in Cantimir district has burned down on Friday morning. Liliana Puscasu of the Firemen and Rescuers Dept. has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire broke out at 6 AM in the wooden belfry situated in front of the cemetery in Hanaseni village. When the crew arrived, the belfry was already destroyed by the flames. Law enforcement bodies are currently examining the possibility of a premeditated arson. It has been established that there were no visitors with lit candles in the belfry at the moment of the fire burst. A fire on the balcony of a flat in Chisinau’s suburban town of Durlesti, started by a burning cigarette, damaged all the goods on the balcony. An open fire left unattended by the constructors of a 10-story block on Grenoble Street, Chisinau, sparked a blaze which ravaged through the building, completely destroying of the ventilation canal. The fire was extinguished by two crews. The police are currently investigating the circumstances in an attempt to identify the authors. Over the past 24 hours, the Firemen and Rescuers Department registered 4 fires, including 2 in Chisinau. Since the beginning of the year, 581 fires occurred, causing 82 deaths, destruction of 94 buildings and 33 vehicles.
