National Army explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) engineers recently carried out an operation in Ungheni town, where they deactivated two aerial bombs discovered during excavation works at a bus station, IPN reports.
The local authorities sought the help of demining teams after workers found the explosive devices. The engineers identified two FAB air-dropped bombs, each weighing 250 kg.
The demining team also intervened in the capital city, on Mesager St, where engineers discovered a 122 mm caliber artillery projectile.
Two other 75 mm artillery shells were found in Cornești town of Ungheni district.
The authorities inform that all the explosive devices, which date back to World War II, were destroyed in maximum safety conditions, at the military range.
