Old man dies from carbon monoxide poisoning
An annex to a house in Volodeni village of Edinet district caught fire
most probably from a smoldering cigarette. The owner – a man aged 71 –
died from carbon monoxide poisoning in the fire.
Dorina Sochirca, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies
Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the incident happened on February 8
in the afternoon. The fire started in a summer kitchen. The preliminary
cause of fire is reckless smoking.
According to employees of the Volodeni mayor’s office, the old man did
not have a family and lived alone. He was a socially underprivileged
person and benefited from social assistance. The man will be buried with
the support of the local authorities.
