Old apartment blocks to be examined for strengthening or demolition

Old apartment blocks throughout the entire territory of Moldova, that exceeded the operation deadline will be examined in order to find out whether they need to be strengthened or demolished. This action was asked by PM Vasile Tarlev at the meeting of the Council of Territory’s Development and Construction Agency (ACDT). Tarlev mentioned that after the creation of the Agency, the situation in the field of construction and development of the infrastructure in the settlements of Moldova has significantly improved. However, the PM considers that the present development possibilities are not used to their full. The present design and authorisation system is bureaucratic, and the share of the underground economy in this field is still considerable. According to the PM, the construction materials increased in price during the last year, fact that is not always justified and determines the increase in price of the dwellings. In light of this situation, he asked the Agency to draw up an efficient and transparent mechanism within a month in order to monitor the way the prices of the materials are set. Referring to the construction of new apartment blocks, the head of the Government asked ACDT to draw up a construction programme on social and mortgage dwellings on the entire territory of Moldova, so that 50 thousand new apartments are built in the next 3-4 years. Also, the blocks that were preserved in the 80s-90s are to be put into operation. Another priority of the Agency’ is to construct and reconstruct the aqueducts, especially the branch pipes in Sangera, Floresti, Drochia, Rascani and Telenesti raion, which will be connected to Soroca-Balti aqueduct.
