Officials assure Chisinau streets will remain passable
The Chisinau City Hall has sufficient supplies of antiskid material, while the snowplows cope with the workload even if they are few in number, the head of the Public Transport and Communications Division Veaceslav Tarna said in Monday’s meeting of City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Tarna, early this morning all the streets in Chisinau were passable. Seventy snowplows removed the snow from the streets and spread about 240 cubic meters of antiskid material during the night. The official assured that the roads will remain passable.
The situation in the suburbs is more difficult. The snowplows of the Chisinau administration cannot swiftly clean the roads there.
According to the Chisinau City Hall, the capital city needs over 600 snowplows, but has only 110. Only 70 of them are involved in snow removal works. About 3,000 tonnes of sand and salt of the 17,000 tonnes stored up for this winter have been spread since the start of the cold period.
