The Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the U.S. National Security Council congratulated Moldovan President-Elect Maia Sandu on her win and reaffirmed the close friendship and partnership between the United States and the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, the officials also discussed the importance of fighting corruption and foreign malign influence. They agreed to continue close cooperation on these and other important national security issues.
Maia Sandu won the presidential runoff vote in Moldova with over 57% of the poll.
