The Moldovan official delegation headed by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca set off for Vilnius to take part in the third EaP Summit. There are also 25 representatives of the mass media on the charter flight. A part of the Moldovan officials went to Lithuania yesterday evening, IPN reports.
The plane is also transporting several dozen boxes of Moldovan wine that will be served to the participants in the summit.
Head of Parliament Igor Corman is already in Vilnius. This morning he took part in the meeting of chairpersons of parliamentary foreign policy commissions of the EU and Parliamentary Forum for Democracy member states, which was held on the sidelines of the Summit.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar took part in the Business Forum of the EaP Summit, where he delivered the message that the political and economic association of Moldova with the EU is an internal policy priority rather than a foreign policy priority. The association with the EU will enable to modernize Moldova. By this association, we pledge to respect the European values.
The initialing of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union started in the morning. The procedure is performed by the chief negotiators on behalf of Moldova – Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman and Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac. The chief negotiators on behalf of the EU are Head of the Directorate for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia of the European Commission Gunnar Wiegand and chief negotiator on the creation of the Free Trade Area on behalf of the European Commission Luc Devigne.
The last initials will be put by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.
The third EaP Summit is held in Vilnius on November 28-29.
