Official Chisinau should demand that Russia recognize Bessarabian genocide, PL

The Moldovan authorities are obliged to demand that Russia, which is the legal successor to the Soviet Union, officially recognize the genocide committed by the Soviet regime on the territory between the rivers Prut and Nistru. This is the position of the Liberal Party that was made public by the party's deputy head Corina Fusu in the June 13 meeting dedicated to the deportees, Info-Prim Neo reports. The meeting was held on the occasion of 69 years of the first wave of deportations in Bessarbia and Northern Bucovina. Corina Fusu said that Russia should express its regret and apologize for the horrors and suffering to which the Soviet people living in the occupied territories were subjected. “We think that the Parliament should make approaches to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament so that the genocide be recognized and condemned at European level, in the official documents of the European organizations. This is the firm position of the Liberal Party and we will promote it with perseverance,” Corina Fusu said. According to the historians, the exact number of the deportees is not known. Over 30,000 people were planned to be deported from the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic.
