More than 250 applications to take part in the Subsidy Program for the Procurement of Biomass Boilers have been submitted to the Energy Efficiency Agency on the first day of submissions – August 10. The number of offers for households was thus completed. Only applications from micro- and small enterprises will be accepted in the immediate period, IPN reports.
The subsidy amount is €1,300 and €700, set-up depending on the technical parameters of the selected boiler. The total number of Subsidy Program beneficiaries will amount to 300, including 250 households, and 50 enterprises.
“The rise in the number of users of biomass energy is welcome. The subsidization program was a success in the first phase of the Energy and Biomass Project too, when 620 families installed biomass boilers in their homes with €1,300 reimbursed from European funds. The result of the second phase of the project impressed us and exceeded our expectations,” said Alexandru Ursul, Manager of the Energy and Biomass Project.
The program beneficiaries will receive the subsidies after they sign the contract and install a boiler, produced or partially assembled in the Republic of Moldova, at home or at the enterprise. The boilers can be purchased from the 23 companies accredited under the program, which provide a wide range of biomass boilers made according to European technologies (Italy, Poland, Greece, Germany, Romania, etc.) or fully made in Moldova.
The Program for providing biomass boilers on advantageous conditions to households is an activity of the Energy and Biomass Project, implemented in partnership with the Energy Efficiency. The Energy and Biomass Project 2 is a three-year project, carried out within 2015-2017. The project total budget is €9.41 million, provided by the EU, and implemented by the UNDP.
