The organization “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” (ODIP) says the accusations made by the Party of Socialists against it are groundless. The Socialists accused ODIP of putting up tents near pre-university education institutions within an information campaign and of involving minors in these actions.
In a news conference at IPN, the organization’s chairman Vlad Biletski denied Socialists’ accusations, saying these are untrue. The Socialists submitted an initiative in Parliament by which they asked to question the administration of the Security and Intelligence Service, the Ministry of the Interior and the Prosecutor General’s Office about the unionist events. According to the latest reports, the MPs voted to annul the hearings and this was a predictable gesture.
According to lawyer Andrei Iosip, the national courts, based on the European case law, held that the sovereignty of a state is not violated and there are no dangers for the state to be liquidated when a group of people that seeks autonomy by constitutional amendments, by Moldova’s union with Romania or other ways acts peacefully. The activities performed by the members of ODIP were in accordance with the legislation of Moldova.
ODIP co-chairwoman Corina Bezer said that a campaign to inform the people about the advantages of Moldova’s union with Romania and of the rapprochement with the EU was conducted in Chisinau in June. The goal of this campaign was to correctly inform the Moldovan people about the advantages of the union between the two banks of the Prut River. They also collected signatures in favor of the union. Within the campaign, about 50,000 people signed in favor of the union.
The campaign will continue in July in a number of settlements where young people will discuss with locals and will distribute leaflets and tricolor ribbons. “We will speak to the people about the strengthening of national identity, the historical aspects and the Romanian values and will present truthful information about the developments in Chisinau because we all know that erroneous information often reaches the people and these do not know all the aspects of the situation,” said ODIP member Otilia Dascal.
The campaign will start on July 4 and will include four trips to Ialoveni, Anenii Noi, Ungheni and Soroca from Chisinau.
