ODIMM presents results of 12 years of activity

The sector of small and medium-sized enterprises is the most important sector of Moldova’s economy. It is the sector that creates new opportunities and jobs, imports and implements new technology. It is most flexible to all the market changes, secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Iulia Costin stated in a news conference held to mark the 12th anniversary of the founding of the Organization for the Development of the Sector of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (ODIMM), IPN reports.

“The small and medium-sized enterprises are considered the driving force of economic growth and the sector should be supported by different methods. The Government devotes special attention to this sector, which is considered a priority one,” stated Iulia Costin. She noted that ODIMM plays an important role in economic development by offering opportunities through the projects it manages, for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, no matter whether they are outside the country, in villages, are young, women, etc.

ODIMM acting director general Petru Gurgurov said that during 12 years ODIMM implemented a number of programs that supported entrepreneurs. In the period they provided business consultancy to over 60,000 beneficiaries. Supporting entrepreneurship among women and young people, with emphasis in rural areas where they aim to develop networks of incubators , and companies that promote elements of green economy, is an important instrument that remains a priority for the future.

Silvia Cărare manages an esthetic medicine company. She applied to the “PARE 1+1” program in 2018 and received a grant of 250,000 lei for purchasing equipment. The money was a good support for developing her business and she created 25 jobs. Finding skilled personnel suitable for the provided services is the hardest moment in the business process.

Tatiana Mârza, who runs a company that produces national clothes,  stated she managed to develop her business owing to her participation in the program “Women in Business”. The grant of 120,000 lei she obtained was invested in equipment and promotion. Currently, the company that started work two years ago has five employees and an online shop. The manufactured clothes are also exported.

During the 12 year-activity of ODIMM, more than 120,000 persons from the country and Moldovans who work abroad benefitted from the projects promoted by the organization. It provided over 400 million lei worth of grants, which generated over 1 billion lei cumulative investment in the economy and more than 6,000 jobs.
