Octavian Țîcu hopes that his decision to leave the DA Platform group from Parliament will be a lifeline for both the ACUM bloc and the political right wing, which currently finds itself in a critical situation. The politician said that the ACUM bloc is an entity that represents him. According to him, the decision to leave is not a question related to the DA Platform group, because, even if he had been part of PAS, he would have done the same. The politician made these statements during the TVR Moldova program "Punctul pe azi".
"The bloc's big problem was its division into two entities. Initially, there were supposed to be three entities: the civil society component and the two parties. The civil society got lost somewhere on the road”. The MP claims that in this struggle for positions and power, internal democracy and decision making process transparency were totally ignored.
According to Octavian Țîcu, currently, the national foreign policy is deficient, because it is dictated by President Igor Dodon. "While we live in a parliamentary country, Dodon goes to the UN to speak, even though he has well-defined constitutional powers. Why impose your agenda in relation to foreign policy and to the appointment of ambassadors?”, the MP asked.
Octavian Țîcu said that he was committed to fighting for power because he sincerely believed that the regime could be overthrown. "I didn't join the ACUM bloc in order to bring Igor Dodon to power. Behind the ousting of Vladimir Plahotniuc, in fact, stands the goal to strengthen the power of the Socialist Party and, partially, the power of the PAS and the PPDA”, said the politician.
According to him, the agreement signed by the ACUM bloc and the PSRM legitimizes and humanizes the Socialist Party, which by no means is democratic and pro-European. "It represents the interests of a foreign state", claimed Octavian Țîcu.
MP Octavian Țîcu announced yesterday that he is leaving the Platform DA, ACUM group, but remains independent within the ACUM bloc. He added that he would run for mayor of Chișinău in the local elections set for October 20.
