Thanks to the reforms promoted by the National Bank of Moldova, including with the support of the National Bank of Romania, the banking sector in Moldova is now stronger, more resilient, more transparent and better governed. NBM governor Octavian Armașu spoke about the advantages of a sustainable partnership between the two central banks during a conference organized by the National Bank of Romania and the Romanian Academy of Economic Studies.

Octavian Armașu emphasized at the conference in Bucharest the importance of the sustainable partnership between the National Bank of Romania and the National Bank of Romania during regional and international crises. The official emphasized that the impact of crises can be reduced through joint efforts. “Especially now, when there are no simple solutions to the current global and regional problems, I believe that we can and indeed must work together to lessen the impact of crises and develop greater resilience”, Octavian Armașu was quoted in a press release.

The NBM continues to enjoy consistent assistance from the NBR both for strengthening capacities in the field of banking regulation and supervision, as well as for aligning the respective framework with EU requirements. During the meeting, the NBR management reiterated its willingness to provide institutional expertise for the NBM in these areas.
