A train running on the Ocnița-Bălți route started to burn near Drochia town in the evening of July 17. Firefighters were on the scene immediately. The passengers managed to get out independently, IPN reports.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the flames engulfed the locomotive of a train with two cars. The firemen determined that the fire occurred in the engine section from where dense smoke was coming out.

To contain the fire, the firefighters cooled the engine section. The cab was also affected.

No one was hurt and the train continued its way. The cause of fire is to be found out by specialists.
