Occupational diseases to be diagnosed according to new regulations

Occupational diseases will be examined and diagnosed according to special regulations approved by the Government. The regulations apply to all the private individuals and legal entities, regardless of the type of ownership, IPN reports.

Currently, the occupational diseases are diagnosed based on an order made by the Ministry of Health. There is also a list of occupational diseases approved in 1993, which does meet the requirements of the World Health Organization. There is no methodology for examining such diseases. These shortcomings were taken into account when the new regulations were drawn up.

The Ministry of Health will work out and approve the method of monitoring persons with occupational diseases within three months.

According to statistics, about 14% of the jobs available during a year do not meet the norms concerning chemical factors, while 10% the norms concerning physical factors.
