Obstetrics Unit No. 1 of the Mother and Child Institute of Chisinau was fully renovated for the first time in over 40 years of its founding. Up to 2,500 children are annual born in this unit, IPN reports.
The unit has seven delivery wards, two surgery wards and special areas for medical workers. The investments in the modernization of the unit came to 6 million lei.
The renovation works were financed by the Ministry of Health. “We aim to bring Europe at home, together with the specialists who went there. For the purpose, we need to invest in the modernization of medical institutions, which is one of the major objectives of the Ministry of Health. We aim to build new hospitals, to extensively renovate wards and to outfit them with modern equipment so that they meet all the international standards,” Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco stated in the inauguration.
According to the minister, the quality of the medical act depends on conditions, not only on the professional skills of the medical personnel, while the health of the mother and child is a priority.
A commemorative plaque in memory of doctor Mihai Strătilă was unveiled today at the Mother and Child Institute.
