Political analyst Oazu Nantoi, who in 2015 ran for mayor general of Chisinau municipality, called on the voters, especially the over 30,000 people who voted for him, to support now the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase, who also enjoys the support of the Party “Action and Solidarity”.
In a news conference at IPN, Oazu Nantoi said the new elections in Chisinau are a prelude to the parliamentary elections of this autumn and the political duo Silvia Radu – Ion Ceban was instructed by the political masters to create a common front against candidate Andrei Nastase.
Oazu Nantoi noted it is hard for him to perceive Silvia Radu as an independent candidate given that she took part in the presidential elections of 2016 and presented over 15,000 signatures to the Central Election Commission then, but finally won only over 5,000 votes.
He also said he cannot forget how the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council led by Ion Ceban, the current opponent of Silviei Radu, made the nomination of Radu as acting mayor possible and helped her consolidate her image by voting unanimously many decisions within the Council.
According to Nantoi, the real struggle for the post of mayor will be given in a year, in the local general elections of 2019. “The Plahotniuc – Dodon duo wants to weaken the positions of the opponents and uses the Silvia Radu – Ion Ceban duo for the purpose, while we, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova have to only react as we consider necessary,” stated the analyst, stressing it is impossible to do something efficiently in Chisinau municipality as long as the real power is not changed.
