Numerous firms sanctioned for breaches

The Chisinau local authorities have curbed the work of five firms, as other 20 were ordered to liquidate the admitted offences. The municipal commerce-dealing services have stepped up controlling the shopping units after the blast of February 14 at the Jumbo commercial centre. More raids are planned for this week, Info-Prim Neo reports. The head of the Commerce, Public Feeding and Services Direction, Vladimir Nirca, said at the City Hall sitting on Monday, February 25, that 93 commercial centres and eating facilities were subjected to verification last week. 41 companies were ordered to improve their performance, as five were stopped to work. According to the official, most of the firms were warned for not observing fire security norms, sanitary, epidemiologic and veterinary standards, for breaking the public order and violating employment requirements. At the City Hall sitting, Vladimir Nirca accused the Emergency Department of the Interior Ministry for not respecting previous agreements to jointly check up the companies. According to Nirca, they had established to form working groups at district offices with representatives of the Emergency Department. Later, they withdrew from the teams and started parallel checkups. So, now the firms are subjected to repeated controls. General Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has ordered to send a notification to the Emergency Department urging to return to the former working practice. He has also demanded to continue the verification and to punish the guilty entities. This week, the checkups will expand over the Chisinau markets. The teams are made up of deputy district heads responsible for social and commerce issues, of officials from the Preventive Medicine Centre, the Commerce, Public Feeding and Services General Direction, the Sanitary-Veterinary Service and police.
