The number of subscribers to landline phone services in the first nine months of this year decreased by 2.5% compared with the end of 2018 to 1.80,6 million. The volume of voice traffic generated by the users of the service diminished by 13.3% to 880.9 million minutes, contributing to a 19.3% reduction in the sector revenues, IPN reports.
According to the national ICT regulator (ANRCETI), the decline in the total number of subscribers was due to the decrease in the number of subscribers of SA Moldtelecom by 2.3% and of alternate providers by 4.1%.
Compared with the same period last year, the traffic initiated to international networks fell by 33.1%, to own networks by 15.5%, while to mobile networks by 10.2%. Consequently, the average monthly volume of voice traffic per user declined by 11.7% on 2018 to 139 minutes, while the average length of a call was 2.4 minutes.
Following the diminution of the number of subscribers and of the total volume of revenues on the landline phone market, the monthly average revenue per user decreased by 16.7% compared with January-September last year to 34.6 lei.
