Number of users of fixed-point broadband Internet services close to 230,000
The number of users of fixed-point wireless broadband Internet services in the first quarter of this year increased by 60.7% compared with the corresponding period last year, to 217,000, while of mobile Internet users to 96,000, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology.
The total number of subscribers to fixed-point Internet access services increased by 36.3% to 229,000. The number of users of dial-up Internet services decreased by 63.6% to 12,000. As a result, the fixed-point broadband Internet penetration rate rose by 2.3% from the first quarter of last year, to 6.1%.
The sales of fixed-point Internet services in the period grew by 13.2%, to 124.5 million lei, while the sales of broadband Internet services - by 36.9%, to 80.4 million lei. SA Moldtelecom had a market share of 70.3%, Starnet – 11.2%, Orange Moldova - 4.7%. The other providers held 13.8% of this market.
