The number of subscribers to pay TV services in the first half of this year decreased by 5,800 (-1.8%) compared with the end of last year to 317,900. The revenues from these services fell by 1.9 million lei (-2.3%) to 78.7 million lei, IPN reports, with reference to the data of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology.
The decline in the total number of subscribers to pay TV services is due to the reduction in the client base of the cable TV operators. In six months, this diminished by 17,900 (-9.7%) to 166,300. At the same time, the number of subscribers connected to IPTV networks rose by 12,200 (+8.7%) to 151,700.
The turnover of cable TV operators dropped by 1.9 million lei (-2,3%) on 2017 to 46.7 million lei, while of IPTV service providers decreased by 67,300 lei to 32 million lei. As a result, the monthly average revenue per user of pay TV services fell by 6 lei (-13%) to 40.4 lei.
