In the municipality of Chisinau, the number of acute respiratory tract infections last week grew by 30% or over 1,000 cases compared to the previous week, IPN reports.
In the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal divisions, Vladimir Bolocan, deputy head of the General Medical and Social Assistance Division, said that due to the increase in the number of acute respiratory infections, especially among minors, the municipal hospitals for children are full.
For example, the Municipal Children’s Clinical Hospital for Contagious Diseases was filled to capacity. The institution has 100 beds, but 109 patients were admitted to this hospital. At Municipal Children’s Clinical Hospital No. 1, where there are 120 beds, there are now 150 patients. In the other hospitals, there are available places.
Vladimir Bolocan urged the population to show responsibility and respect prevention measures, especially among children, as the viruses are quite aggressive.
It is recommended to keep social distancing, avoid crowded places, obey hygiene rules, including hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene. It is also indicated to ventilate enclosed spaces, wear masks in medical institutions and see the family doctor on the appearance of the first symptoms, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle pain, rhinorrhea or stuffy nose, headache, weakness or tiredness.
