The number of respiratory infections last week rose by 27% compared with a week before. Epidemiologist of the National Public Health Center Alina Druc has told IPN that the number of cases of infections varies from one week to another and the variations are typical for this period of the year, when the weather grows warmer.
According to Alina Druc, the rise is due to the warmer weather and to the fact that the people started to wear lighter clothes. Despite this increase, there are no reasons for concern because the general trend is a downward one and the figure is below the epidemic ceiling.
Specialists warn to call a doctor at home when the first symptoms appear such as cough, pain in the neck, fever and running nose, to air the rooms and disinfect the infected surfaces. It is recommended to avoid contact with sick persons, to frequently wash the hands with water and soap, to eat fruit and vegetables that contain vitamin C such as lime and currant and phytoncide products like onion and garlic, which are antimicrobial.
