More than 400 persons used the emotional support service on the anonymous chat from pentruviata.md during the past six months. The figure is three times higher than in the corresponding period last year. The service works between 9pm and 11pm, from Monday through Friday. The persons can send messages at any hour, while the counselors respond to them through email, IPN reports
Liuba Ceban, founder of the Green Line for Suicide Prevention, said that given the realities faced by the people during the pandemic, it is important to benefit from mutual support and encouragement. The problems are not solved with emotional support, but with this the person obtains energy and strength to go on.
She called on the persons who spend more time on social networking sites to take a training course and become counselors of the Green Line for Suicide Prevention. The course for the potential volunteers is available on cursuri.mirt.md.
During the past seven months, Liuba Ceban and her colleagues worked on an emotional support program entitled “You Are Not Alone”. Within this, they helped over 1,000 persons to tend to overcome the harsh realities generated by the pandemic. They dealt also with difficult cases, such as professional burnout and suicidal thoughts.
The experts involved in the project during the past six months held over 70 live sessions that attracted more than 500 persons. “The person who experiences difficulties needs not advice, but our understating,” stated Liuba Ceban.
