Number of new cases of COVID-19 grew significantly, Health Ministry

A significant rise in the number of new cases of COVID-19 has been witnessed in Orhei district the past two weeks, as the Orhei Public Health Center, which monitors the epidemiological situation at the local level, reported. This way, 290 cases of COVID-19, 29 of which among children, were confirmed in Orhei district during three days alone, January 24-26, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Orhei was placed on red alert on January 24, with an incidence of 258 cases per 100,000 people. In total, a red alert was issued in 19 localities of Orhei district.

On January 26, cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in 23 schools of Orhei district, in which 47 students and 33 teachers and auxiliary staff members got infected. Over 600 students of the given institutions are in quarantine.

As many as 299 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Orhei district on January 17 - 23, by 171 more than on January 10 - 16.

The Ministry of Health calls on the local public administration of the municipality of Orhei to obey all the measures imposed at the national level by the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission as from January 20, 2022, including switching over to online learning in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Orhei Public Health Commission decided that the students of Orhei district will attend schools physically.
