The number of foreign citizens who visited Moldova in the first half of this year was of 1.6 million, an increase of 50% compared with the corresponding period last year, PN reports, quoting the Tourism Agency.
According to statistics, 55.1% of the foreign tourists were from Romania, 29.3% from Ukraine, 7.3% from Russia, 1.5% from Bulgaria, while by less than 1% from Italy, Turkey, Israel, Germany, the U.S., Poland, Belarus, and Portugal.
Of the total number of foreign visitors, 83.8% preferred to travel by motor vehicles, 14.3% by plane, while 1.9% by train.
The number of Moldovans who went abroad in the period rose by 1.5% on last year, to 2.6 million. Most of the Moldovans (87.6%) used motor vehicles.
