Number of fires in Transnistrian region has increased sevenfold
In the period between July 10 and August 9, 206 fires happened in the Transnistrian region, which is seven times more than in last year’s same period, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting the region’s press.
The excessive heat, from the recent period, contributed to increasing the number of wildfires on the left bank of the Nistru. Thus, over the course of a month, over 200 hectares of vegetation were destroyed in flames. Additionally, significant parts of orchards and recreational zones were burned.
Fire monitoring inspectors from eastern districts state that the increased number of fires is caused by the imprudence when using open fire and by carelessly thrown cigarette butts.
