The hospitals and health centers in the municipality of Chisinau need anesthesiologists, reanimatologists, radiologists, endocrinologists, pediatricians and family doctors. The number of working doctors has decreased during the last five years, the head of the Chisinau Health Division Luminita Suveica said when presenting a report on the Division’s work last year, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Luminita Suveica, the main reasons why the doctors abandon work in the health sector remain the lack of dwellings and the low salaries. The local medical associations in Ciocana, Buiucani and Botanica districts and the Municipal Hospital “St Archangel Mikhail” experience great shortages of personnel. The number of doctors who resigned in 2010 was larger than the number of employed doctors. Luminita Suveica also said that the financial resources allocated to the municipal medical-sanitary institutions are insufficient for implementing new technologies and providing services in accordance with the European standards. There is not enough money for current and extensive repair works. The official stressed the emphasis in primary medical assistance should be changed from treatment to promotion of a healthy lifestyle and prophylaxis. The patients must be informed about their rights and responsibilities, she stated.
