The AH1N1 flu has caused five deaths so far this year. According to the National Public Health Center, the victims include two women from the districts of Floresti and Ungheni, and three men – one from Ungheni and two from the municipality of Chisinau. Vasile Sohotski, of the National Public Health Center, has told Info-Prim Neo that the five persons died between January 30 and February 11. They were diagnosed with bronchopneumonia and acute pneumonia. Before going to the doctor, they all tried to treat themselves at home. In order to avoid infection, specialists recommend eating products that contain vitamin C and garlic and onion, which are antimicrobial, leading a healthy lifestyle, without tobacco and alcohol, avoiding crowded places and contact with sick persons, using masks, washing the hands, and airing the rooms. The National Public Health Center said the number of clinical cases of flu and acute respiratory infections by February 10 totaled 401 and 25,312 cases respectively.
