Number of deaths from COVID-19 up 35% over a week

A number of 100 deaths associated with the novel coronavirus were recorded last week. The number of cases is by slightly over 35% higher than a week before. The number of COVID-19 cases grew by 6.3% to over 7,300 new cases during September 20-26, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, most of the patients with COVD-19 had mild or asymptomatic forms - 80.9%. Some 11.6% had moderate forms, while 7.5% had severe forms. Currently, 148 patients are under intensive care.

The incidence the last seven days was 211 cases per 100,000 people, up 6.3% on the 37th week (198 cases per 100,000).

COVID-19 so far caused 6,713 deaths in Moldova, with 80.9% of these being among persons older than 60.

Over 1.3 million vaccine doses have been administered in Moldova since the initiation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The national coverage with a dose is 23.57%, while with two doses is 22.55%. About 1,500 adverse events have been reported by now, with almost 92% of them being mild forms.
