Number of deaths caused by COVID-19 reaches 70 in Moldova

The death toll from the novel coronavirus rose to 70 in Moldova. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection reported three more deaths on April 20. The victims are a man aged 47 from Ceadâr-Lunga, a 62-year-old man from Tiraspol and a woman aged 73 from Bender, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, the 47-year-old man was admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute in Chisinau in an extremely serious state on April 14. The final diagnosis was worsening bilateral interstitial pneumonia. He also suffered from chronic kidney disease.

The de facto ministry of the interior of Transnistria said the man aged 62 had received treatment since April 9. The patient infected with COVID-19 was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. The man suffered from heart disease and hypertension and was put on a ventilator.

The woman aged 73 was also diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia. She was admitted to the hospital in Slobozia on April 15. The patient suffered from heart disease and renal insufficiency and was on dialysis.

The state of emergency declared in Moldova will last until May 15. As many as 2,548 persons had been confirmed with COVID-19 in Moldova by April 20. A number of 478 infected persons were treated, while 70 died.
