Number of crimes committed under influence is increasing
The number of crimes committed by intoxicated people is increasing. From the beginning of this year, 866 intoxicated people were involved in crimes, by 367 people more than in last year’s same period, reports Info-Prim Neo.
“Now we can conclude that there are no positive indices regarding this vice”, said Vitalie Briceag, chief of MoI’s Fraud Investigation Department, during a meeting of the National Coordinating Council for the implementation of the national Program on alcohol control for years 2012-2020.
In this period, police officers have issued over 3,000 administrative tickets for alcohol consumption in public places.
1,500 people diagnosed with chronic alcoholism came to the narcotics expertise Commission, seeking medical examination and treatment. 480 requests for initiating medical supervision through hospitalization were addressed to public local authorities’ commissions on social issues.
At the same time, Vitalie Briceag said that currently the police have a hard time in referring people that suffer from alcoholism to a doctor. The problem arises from the fact that such treatment requires medical insurance, which most of the people who suffer alcoholism do not have.
