Number of COVID-19 wards in Chisinau decreased

The number of COVID-19 wards in Chisinau is now low and the wards are closed in stages. However, in case of a new wave of infections, these will be reactivated. According to the head of the General Social Assistance and Health Division Tatiana Bucharschi, the municipal authorities applied internal reorganization by the gradual diminution of the number of COVID-19 places in municipal clinical hospitals, by making the necessary changes in the expenditure estimate. If the epidemiological situation worsens, the wards will be reactivated. A decision to this effect was taken by of the Extraordinary Public Health Commission and was communicated in the ordinary meeting of municipal services, IPN reports.

According to Tatiana Bucharschi, the Commission decided to extend the post-COVID-19 rehabilitation treatment by organizing specialized recovery wards at municipal clinical hospitals. “We reiterate the importance of vaccination for saving human lives and containing the COVID-19 pandemic. We yet call on the citizens to inform themselves from official sources about the vaccination and immunization process,” noted the official.

The last updated data show that 105 679 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the municipality of Chisinau. There are 1,255 beds in the municipal hospitals and 200 triage beds at the COVID-19 Center at “Moldexpo”.
