Number of companies that cannot be privatized decreased
The Government shortened the list of companies that cannot be privatized, from 175 to 102, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said the thermoelectric plants CETs and the power distribution networks REDs were removed from the list as their wear and tear degree is 80% and the state does not have money to upgrade them. The companies that are in a poor condition and private investments are needed to rehabilitate them were also struck off.
The list still includes the bakery complex “Franzeluta”, the wine complex “Cricova”, SA “Moldovagaz”, the international exhibitions center “Moldexpo”, and the state-run railroad company IS “Calea Ferata a Moldovei”.
The bus stations and terminals, the State Road Administration, a series of cultural organizations, including the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich”, the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, and the Balti-based Theater “Vasile Alecsandri”, the Palace of the Republic, the companies “Posta Moldovei” and “Cadastru” cannot be privatized either.
The Government approved amendments enabling the bodies that administer and denationalize public property to lease out the land adjoining private property. It also proposed allowing selling shareholdings of under 10% as public offers, as a privatization method.
