Two young women and a man attempted to kill themselves on March 15. The women took pills, while the man tried to cut his veins open. Anatol Proca, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Ambulance Service, told Info-Prim Neo that the women aged 18 and, respectively, 20 were rushed to Saint Trinity Hospital after taking pills for detox. The 35-year-old man cut his forearm with a piece of glass while under the influence of alcohol. The doctor said the alcohol, crisis and stress determine many people to take their lives. Cases of suicide are reported in the municipality of Chisinau daily. Usually, the people commit suicide after finding out bad news, experiencing financial problems or suffering as a result of unshared love. Over one million people commit suicide every year, making it the tenth-leading cause of death worldwide. It is a leading cause of death among teenagers and adults under 35. There are an estimated 10 to 20 million non-fatal attempted suicides every year worldwide Psychiatrists say the number of cases of suicide is higher in spring, especially among men as well as women born in spring and at the start of summer. Many suicides suffer from depressive disorders. Yesterday and last night, the Chisinau Ambulance Service dealt with 770 calls, including 73 cases of acute viral infection, 44 cases of trauma and seven strokes.
