The number of cases of acute viral infections in Chisinau municipality the past week rose by 25% compared with a week ago. Chief doctor of the Chisinau Public Health Center Luminita Suveica, in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services and divisions, said most the cases involve children. A number of 920 children, mainly younger than two, were hospitalized during a week, IPN reports.

A large number of absences was recorded in education institutions. The figure is higher than the number of visits to the doctor. This shows that many of the children who get infected are treated at home. Luminita Suveica called on the parents to seek specialized assistance and not to take the infected children to kindergarten or school as they will infect the others.

To avoid viral infections, it is recommended easting many vegetables and fruit to strengthen immunity. If the infection is detected, the sick ones should be isolated from the healthy ones.
