A group of NOW/PAS lawmakers wrote officially to the National Bank of Moldova requesting it to publish the Second Kroll Report in full. “The publishing of the Second Kroll Report should be in the governing politicians’ interest, too”, MP Dumitru Alaiba wrote on his Facebook account.
“It’s been almost five years since the one billion heist and the current authorities demonstrated in actual fact that they don’t want an earnest investigation into the financial fraud. They don’t want to punish those responsible and don’t want to get the stolen money back (...) Instead, they resort to lies, sabotage, disinformation, manipulation, misleading and withholding of information”, wrote the NOW lawmaker.
Dumitru Alaiba recalled that the first report was released by Andrian Candu on his personal blog after massive protests. “We have many a time demonstrated that we can ask for something and get that. We will get the Second Kroll Report, too”, stated Alaiba.
The MP says the report’s release is needed not only because people have a right to know, but also because it can serve as an instrument to obtain international sanctions against the officials that were involved in the fraud. “It is a matter of principle, to clarify absolutely everything and hold those responsible to account. Only so can we prevent other acts of corruption, even more devastating, from repeating themselves in the future”.
Other signatories besides Dumitru Alaiba include MPs Vladimir Bolea, Igor Grosu, Radu Marian, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei and Dan Perciun.
