“November 1” Committee ascertain intensification of attacks against opposition
“November 1” Committee ascertain the fact that the government party intensified its attacks against the opposition, using law enforcement fiscal and judiciary bodies as means for oppression. This issue has been debated within the frameworks of an urgent session of the committee held on December 25.
According to statement of the Committee, the government intends to put a stop to any protest action, any initiative and social-political project of the opposition. For attaining these goals the county’s leadership tries to annihilate the activity of the opposition parties of both levels – national and local, via the intimidation and persecution of its leaders, via the fabrication of ordered criminal cases, applying the administrative control methods and interference in the activity of economic agents.
“November 1” Committee appeals to the conscience of the law enforcement and judiciary bodies’ employees, encouraging them to give proof of dignity, civil and professional responsibility, to reject the power’s attempt to corrupt them and resist the possibility of implication in the political suppression led by the government party. Law enforcement bodies have the mission of ensuring the law order and justice for the benefit of the whole society, not just for that of a single party.
In its session, the Committee will discuss upon the issue of the lack of access of political parties to the public media organizations, which are controlled by the government coalition.
“November 1, 2006” Committee meets the Social Democratic Party (PSDM), Republican People’s Party (PPR) and Centrist Union (UCM). The Committee has the status of consultative political body. Its main objectives are to stop the process of deviating from the democratic norms, to ensure the functioning of a real transparent political system, to liquidate the effects of the actions taken to usurp authority, and to align Moldova with the real democratic and European values.
