Nicolae Dabija’s novel “Homework” was translated into Italian by Olga Irimciuc - a Moldovan woman who settled in Italy. In the Italian language, the novel was issued in 1,000 copies and is available from all the libraries in Italy. The event to launch the novel “Compito per domani” was held at the National Library in Chisinau on August 31, IPN reports.

Nicolae Dabija said the appearance of the book in Italian was a revelation to him. Even if he does not know Italian, when he started to read and reached the second page, he started to cry. “It is translated flawlessly. I felt a lot of musicality and recognized the Romanian original by the musicality by which this book was faithfully translated by Olga Irimciuc,” stated the writer.

Olga Irimciuc said the novel deserved to be translated into Italian. It is about love and about the destiny of Bessarabia and she wanted to emphasize these aspects in particular. “I think anyone will like it, including the Italian readers. If a person takes the book and starts to read it, I’m sure they will be tempted to read it till the end,” she stated.

The novel “Homework” was published in 2009 and is the prose book of a contemporary writer with the largest number of printed books in the Romanian area. This is also the most read book in the past 40 years in Moldova. The novel is about the sufferings of the Bessarabian deportees.

The book was also translated into Macedonian, German, English, Bulgarian, and French. It is also to be issued in Greek, Portuguese, and Russian.
