The letter found at Ion Butmalai's home contains names of some people who allegedly meant to hurt him. Ana Ursachi, the lawyer of the Butmalai family, told reporters that she will reveal them if the people accused in the letter aren't interrogated.
Ursachi said the former MP left a letter on more than five pages on his desk, containing his reflections. The letter was taken by the police to be appended to the case.
“Believe me, those are widely known names and if I were a prosecutor, I would start out by investigating those persons immediately. If I see that after a certain period of time those persons are still not quizzed, I will go ahead and make the case public”, said the lawyer.
The former Liberal-Democrat deputy Ion Butmalai was found shot dead in the chest in his Cahul home on December 9. The shot was fired from a pistol that Ion Butmalai legally possessed.
