A notary from Donduseni town was brought to justice together with a client of his. The two are accused of forging public documents and of appropriation and face two to six years in jail or a fine of up to 20,000 lei, IPN reports.
The criminal case was started by the North Service of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutors collected evidence showing that the offenders illegally authenticated a contract for the sale-purchase of a house and an annex in Arionesti village. The contract was concluded in the absence and without the consent of the seller, whose signature was forged. The notary included the contract in the register of notarial documents. As a result, the so-called ‘buyer’ was able to obtain ownership rights over the house and annex.
If he is found guilty, the notary will be banned from working in the field for a period of up to five years.
