Analysts, activists, experts and MPs of the opposition parties say the Moldovan authorities do not communicate between them to stop an eventual spread of the novel coronavirus in the country. They consider that high-ranking officials try to gain political benefits from the developments, IPN reports.
“The way in which the authorities behave is more positive than negative. It goes to a scourge that spreads swiftly. The poor societies in developing countries are the most affected ones. The fact that the infected woman who came from Italy was taken from the plane and transported to the hospital is positive. In other societies, the authorities do not bother if you don’t have a health policy. The citizens should be much more responsible,” PPPDA MP Igor Munteanu stated in the talk show “Expertise Hour” on Jurnal TV channel.
The MP noted that the Republic of Moldova needs a national alert system that would work independently from the Government. According to him, not the Prime Minister and the President are those who should mobilize to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
PAS MP Igor Grosu said the responsible authorities in the created situation have a bad and inefficient communication method.
“The authorities copy what the neighbors do. This is not bad, but it is important to do it at a higher speed. Communication from the first source began only now. In rural areas, communication is insufficient. The message didn’t reach the people. We must be responsible and protect ourselves and our dear people,” stated Igor Grosu.
Political commentator Roman Mihăieș said the government reform of 2018 by which the Ministry of Health was merged with the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family was a mistake. The healthcare sector is strategic and the Ministry of Health should be delimited from the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family. The Ministry of Health should be headed by a health specialist, an academician.
Former member of the Chisinau Municipal Council Oleg Cernei noted that not President Igor Dodon and Prime Minister Ion Chicu should inform about the situation in the country as these do nothing but politicize the subject. There should be two-three expert communicators. The people treat this Ping-Pong as a political game and consider that it is a political struggle.
Former chief of the Public Property Agency Igor Grigoriev accuse the authorities of not reacting swiftly, even if they have discussed the coronavirus for almost two months. No preventative measures were taken, if only during the past few days. The authorities are not ready to fight the coronavirus and the way in which the persons suspected of being infected were transported to the hospital, without the medical personnel being equipped appropriately, confirms this.
