Norms of using food additives adjusted to European standards

The conditions of using ‘E’ additives in the food products made in Moldova were adjusted to the European ones. The regulations approved by the Government specify the category of products to which food additives can be added and the conditions concerning the labeling of food additives, Info-Prim Neo reports. The document includes the national list of authorized food additives, the list of support substances in food flavors and nutrients, and the method of using them. According to Health Minister Andrei Usatyi, the given regulations will eliminate the normative vacuum existing in this area and will ensure the efficient functioning of the home market and a high level of protection of people’s health and consumers’ interests. The Health Ministry data show that 3.2% of the samples examined in 2010 exceeded the maximum doses of food additives allowed, while in 2011 this percentage was 3.3%.
