Nonworking days in May

In May this year there will be the largest number of nonworking days. However, the public sector employees will de facto not go to work only on May 3 and 10 as the other nonworking days - May 1, 2 and 9 – coincide with weekend days, IPN reports.

Under the Labor Code, the public sector employees will stay at home on May 1, when it is celebrated International Workers’ Day. Easter is observed on May 2 and May 3 is also a nonworking day as the next day after Easter.

In a week, on May 9, it will be celebrated Victory Day and Europe Day, while on May 10 it will be observed the Sunday of the Dead.

When nonworking days coincide with weekend days, the average salary for these days is not paid.
