Nongovernmental organizations looking for volunteers

A number of nongovernmental organizations of Moldova mounted a fair with a view to recruiting volunteers. They came with offers in areas where volunteers are needed most of all, IPN reports.

Liliana Celcinschi, director of the Bacioi Community Center “Vis”, said the NGO fair is an important event as it enables the organizations to make known the problems they face. “We need the volunteers’ assistance in promoting our activities and in supporting our beneficiaries. It is important that the people are sensitive to the problems of those around, including the persons with disabilities and children from socially deprived families. These persons can be helped by volunteering,” she added.

Liliana Celcinschi also said that the center exhibited at the fair a number of works made by young people and adults with mental disabilities. They include bags for ladies made from waste material. The proceeds will go to equip a photographing workshop.

The deputy head of the Association “Debra” Moldova Mariana Turcan said the organization needs volunteers in bookkeeping and translators. “We need persons who can help us and the people suffering from epidermolysis bullosa as not many people know about this disease. Not many want to become involved,” she stated, adding that those who want to help ask for remuneration, but the NGOs do not have money to pay them.

The NGO fair was staged at the end of the Tour of Moldova 2013 that was held by the Peace Corps to celebrate the 20th anniversary in Moldova.
