The discriminated persons will be able to use a hotline to seek legal advice from May 11. The Nondiscrimination Coalition Wednesday announced the official launch of a nondiscrimination hotline – 08003-8003, Info-Prim Neo reports. Human rights activist Iulia Marchinski said the phenomenon of discrimination has developed during the last five years also because there is no specific law aimed at preventing and combating discrimination. The number of cases of marginalization, unequal treatment and hindering of access to goods and services is on the rise. “Some of the people do not realize that they violate the rights of other persons or that they were discriminated. Thus, we decided to set up a hotline so that those who will use it could receive consultancy from jurists,” said Iulia Marchinski. Radu Bobeica, assistant for the Nondiscrimination Hotline project, said the service will be available daily, from 9 am until 6 pm, while the information about the callers will be confidential. Two jurists of the Institute for Human Rights will answer the phone and make recommendations how to solve the reported problems. In serious cases, the victims of discrimination will be offered legal assistance in court. The nondiscrimination hotline was launched with support from Civil Rights Defenders within the Promotion of Nondiscrimination Policies in Moldova Project.
