Nonbank payment service provider changes name

The payment service provider Artosis S.R.L. requested the National Bank of Moldova to renew the license for issuing digital currency following the change of the name into BPAY S.R.L. and of the legal address. It happened after on August 9 this year the National Bank suspended the company’s license for the provision of payment services and issuance of digital currency for a period of six months, IPN reports.

In a press release, the National Bank says that after examining the application the Executive Board decided to renew the license, not yet to allow the company to resume work. The Board’s decision to suspend the company’s activity remains valid. Thus, BPAY S.R.L. could work based on the renewed license only after the six-month period as from August 9, 5pm expires.

The Executive Board of the National Bank decided to suspend the payment service provider’s license after a thematic inspection identified violations of the law on the prevention and combating of money laundering and terrorism financing and of the law on payment services and digital currency and of the prescriptions issued earlier by the Bank.
