Non-communist parties negotiate a possible alliance in the Chisinau Municipal Council
Non-communist parties are negotiating the creation of an alliance in the Chisinau Municipal Council, Mihai Ghimpu, the leader of the Liberal Party said.
Ghimpu mentioned that he had a telephone conversation with some party leaders, including the president of the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, Serafim Urecheanu, the leader of the Democratic Party, Dumitru Iacov, and Iurie Rosca, the leader of the Christian Democratic People’s Party. According to the cited source, the discussions will continue, and the parties hope to reach an agreement so as to confirm the communists’ status of opposition. “We have no choice, we must cooperate and I trust that we will concur really soon”, Ghimpu said.
During a CMC meeting that took place on Thursday, June 28, the representatives of some parties pleaded for cooperation “to the benefit of the capital city”.
Pavel Caba, the leader of the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance municipal faction, stated that this party will fully support the creation of the new local public administration under maximal transparency, by naming skilled experts, devoted to Chisinau and capable of assuming the responsibility to accomplish the tasks given by electors.
The councillor representing the same party, Oleg Cernei said that he has analysed all the electoral programmes, which are very good, but because of the fact that the CMC includes 10 parties, the programmes have to be compiled so as to set up a political partnership on their basis. The majority that will be created in the CMC has to work on the basis of a common agenda, strategic plan and programme”, he said.
Vladimir Filat, member of the Democratic Party faction, also stated that the party that he represents is fully open to solving the problems that are brought in front of the elected authorities.
On the other side, the communist councillors, who are 16 out of 51 in the CMC, have announced that they are going into total opposition.
